zkSync Timestamp Upgrade Progress and Mainnet Checklist
Community Newsletter #23: September 2023
Throughout the month of September, the Increment community and core contributors have been firing on all cylinders in preparation for launch, including:
Improving and reviewing mainnet technical deployment checklist
Creating, designing, and integrating the Increment Season 2024: Ranked and Honors community program and more
Built and tested about 70% of the peripheral contracts with peer code reviews to follow, the safety module is being built next
In parallel to these developments on Increment, the timestamp update on zkSync Era is also progressing smoothly with an estimated completion date on October 28th.
zkSync Timestamp Upgrade Progress
Testnet upgrade: The upgrade has been completed on testnet.
Mainnet upgrade: Keep track of the upgrade process using this third party dashboard: http://zksync-vblock.satis.foundation/public-dashboards/ee458e90d699447a9f3550f204c19ab9?orgId=1&refresh=5m
The estimated time of completion is October 28th. After this upgrade, the timestamp and blockhash will return values from the current L2 block instead of the L1 batch, which fixes a time discrepancy issue that is crucial for many DeFi applications to function properly.
Mainnet Checklist
First of all, the Increment deployment timeline primarily depends on the status of zkSync Era and its dependencies readiness. Additional time may be used to ensure that everything is fully ready after infrastructure changes like the current timestamp upgrade.
Hence, it is hard to pinpoint an exact time but the goal is to have Increment available for use on zkSync Era before the end of the year. Stay tuned for further communications with the community regarding the deployment.
In terms of the technical checklist, here is a general overview. Increment contracts are non-upgradable and core contracts only need to be deployed once, which are:
ClearingHouse
Vault
Insurance
UA
Oracle
For any market that will be deployed, there will be new pools, tokens, and a new perpetual contract that will need to be deployed:
2 virtual tokens, one vBase and a vQuote
1 Curve V2 pool for these 2 tokens, at their current ratio
1 Perpetual contract, that users will interact with from the ClearingHouse contract

Aside from the technical checklist, there are also community programs to look forward to, such as the Increment Season 2024: Ranked and Honors program. Here is a sneak peak into the design and honor crests, more information on this program will be sent out closer to launch.
Increment is a decentralized, algorithmic perpetual swaps protocol building on zkSync Era, featuring automatically concentrated liquidity, dynamic fees and parametrizable pools.
